Neighbours has paid tribute to Coronation Street ahead of its 60th anniversary.
Several cast members of the Channel 5 soap — including Karl and Susan Kennedy stars Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne — featured in a special video message, which celebrated Corrie’s groundbreaking 60 years on air.
Alan said: ‘Huge congrats to everyone at Corrie for your 60th anniversary. You are the benchmark for all of us in this industry.
‘I well remember watching the show when I was a little nipper with my mum on the couch back in Perth.
‘Have a fantastic celebration, wish I could be there!’
‘For all of us working in soap and in episodic television, it all begin with you. So, thank you for the memories. Thank you for your legacy, and here’s to the next 60 years!’
Colette Mann, who portrays Shiela Canning in Neighbours, also congratulated the ITV serial drama on its huge milestone, as did Rebecca Elmaloglou, who plays Therese Willis.
The Neighbours cast are the latest to congratulate Coronation Street with a special video message, after Joanna Lumley kicked things off with a message of her own last week.
A spokesperson for the show said: ‘With 60 days to go until December 9th, we’ll be celebrating each day via the soap’s official social media channels with a special message from famous fans, charities, cast members and, of course, the viewers.’
Coronation Street continues Friday October 16 at 7:30pm on ITV.
