Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) was heartbroken when Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) filed for divorce as he served time behind bars. Emmerdale fans were devastated to see the couple split but there could be some good news for Aaron on the horizon as a blast from his past arrives in the village and sparks could fly between the pair.

Last year, Robert was sentenced to life in jail for the murder of his sister’s rapist Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie).

Robert never intended on killing Lee but the sinister character died from his injuries after being attacked by Robert.

Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) was crushed by the news but tried her hardest to focus on her future with her baby boy.

While Aaron focussed on being reunited with his husband once he served his minimum sentence, Robert had other ideas.

In recent scenes, Emmerdale viewers watched as Aaron received a letter from Robert apologising for cutting him off.

At first, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was apprehensive about giving him the letter as he feared it would ruin Aaron’s progress.

However, the letter gave him well-needed closure and signalled him being ready to move on.

Fans will remember Jacob’s horrific grooming ordeal with his dad David Metcalfe’s (Matthew Wolfenden) evil girlfriend Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein), who was also Leanna’s step-mum before she split from Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).

With Jacob convinced that he was in love with the manipulative school teacher, he was left heartbroken when David and his mum Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) drove her out of the village when they found out what had been going on under their noses.

Since then, it’s been a tough road for him but he found a connection with Leanna and the two ended up sleeping together at the end of last year.

There has already been worries about a teen pregnancy for the pair after their romp, as Leanna began to panic as they hadn’t used protection.

In Wednesday’s episode, Leanna visited Jacob in the shop as the lockdown was starting to ease in the village.

She looked like she had something on her mind, but things soon went from bad to worse as they clashed over the trashing of Leyla’s salon as he believed his jealous girlfriend had something to do with it.

Storming out, she told him not to talk to her, leaving Jacob worried that their relationship is over.

But is there more to it?

Liam Cavanagh (played by Johnny McPherson) felt confident in his decision to end his budding romance with Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) after an emotional heart-to-heart with his daughter, Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger). The doctor realised he hadn’t been putting his daughter first and realised he needed to focus on their relationship before he could move on romantically. But a heartbreaking revelation could lead to the doctor deciding it’s best for him to leave Emmerdale for good.

Last year, Liam was devastated when Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) called off their wedding after learning the father of her daughter had been involved in a serious collision.

Bernice realised she needed to be there for her daughter and left for Australia to be by her side.

While Liam tried to keep his relationship alive, Leyla developed feelings for the doctor and was stunned when she realised he felt the same.

When the doctor confessed to Bernice he’d shared a kiss with Leyla, she dumped him but the pair’s romance hit a few more bumps in the road.

Emmerdale spoilers: Village rocked by tragic death as beloved resident ‘killed’ off-screen

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Bernice Blackstock (played by Samantha Giles) was one of Emmerdale’s unluckiest bachelorettes, having suffered many a heartbreak during both her stints on the ITV soap. It was thought her luck had finally changed when she was set to marry the love of her life, Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson). However, moments before she was set to walk down the aisle, the former character decided to leave the village to go and help her ex-husband in Australia. This was the final time viewers were to see the mother-of-two as actress Samantha, 48, confirmed she had quit following her second seven-year stint. In the coming months, could a tragic twist see her killed off-screen, closing the door on the resident for good?

Viewers were rather confused and disappointed with Bernice’s exit as they were desperate for her to have a happily-ever-after.

The character’s last appearance on-screen back in November saw the beloved character telling her husband-to-be at the entrance of the church she would return from Australia once her ex had recovered from an accident to marry him.

Some weeks past and with one phone call, the salon owner’s fate was confirmed as she told a heartbroken Liam she wasn’t coming back to the village.

As a result, the doctor struggled to move on but has finally entered a turbulent relationship with Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi).

However, could he be left devastated once more as he discovers his wife-to-be has died in tragic circumstances?

  • Emmerdale spoilers: Kim Tate suffers loss in Jamie divorce twist?

Speaking with Inside Soap, Samantha has revealed the way she would have liked her character to leave the village under different circumstances.

The actress explained: “If she had been killed, perhaps I’d have got a better exit story as it was a little disappointing.

“I had quite a lot of people on Twitter saying that they felt a bit cheated by the way Bernice left, but it’s done now. You can’t please everyone!”

With the Bernice star stating a death would have been a stronger exit for her alter-ego, could writers decide to rock shatter the hearts of many residents by having the character killed off-screen?

I’d have got a better exit story

Samantha Giles

The actress has previously explained she wouldn’t have minded if Bernice had been killed, but it was the writers who wanted to leave the door open for her.

As well as Liam still living in the village, the beloved character could also return to visit her teenage daughter Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) and father, Rodney Blackstock (Patrick Mower).

Mother Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) is also still in the picture, so there are many villagers who would be heartbroken to learn of her death.

If her demise were to happen off-screen, it would mark the path for her other daughter, Dee Dee Blackstock (Mia Gibson-Reed) to make a comeback.

However, with Liam’s current romance with Leyla on the rocks, he might just make his own exit from the village to go and see his former fiancee.

Following Bernie’s departure and not wanting to seem insensitive to their respective families, the pair decided to keep their affair under wraps.

People started to become dubious why they were both being so secretive, which led them to go public with their relationship.

The doctor’s daughter, Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger) wasn’t happy and grew jealous of her father moving on with someone else.

  • Emmerdale fans spot glaring Jamie Tate blunder in lockdown return

As she toyed with Bernice’s replacement, Leyla’s anger built within her and resulted in her slapping the teenager around the face.

Liam called things off with his love interest, but her son Jacob Gallagher (Joe Warren Plant) comes up with a plan to reunite the pair in upcoming scenes.

Having had several failed relationships during his time in the village, the doctor could decide he wants to pursue things with his former fiancé.

Could there be a double death on the cards as he meets her in Australia and they become entwined in a horrific accident?

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.

Emmerdale spoilers: Real reason Harriet Finch is having an affair with Malone unveiled

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

It is only going to be a matter of weeks until Harriet Finch’s (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) affair with DI Mark Malone (Mark Womack) is exposed. But with the family unit she has always wanted right at her fingertips, why is she playing with fire and sneaking around with the corrupt cop? alongside other members of the press spoke to the Emmerdale actress as well as her cast members about why Harriet cannot resist Malone and his dark side.

As soon as Harriet found out about Malone being in the village, she knew trouble was on the horizon.

Despite telling him to leave the Dales, he stuck around and started manipulating several residents, one of them being Harriet’s fiancé Will Taylor (Dean Andrews).

When Will ended up hospitalised at the hands of Malone, she knew he had to go.

Malone switched on the charm and as the two reminisced about their past, Harriet found herself falling for his bad-boy charms.

Fast forward a few weeks and the pair have been sneaking around in the vestry at every given opportunity.

  • Emmerdale spoilers: Kim Tate suffers loss in Jamie divorce twist?

Earlier this week, Malone found out about Harriet’s plans to get married to Will after overhearing Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) on the phone to the vicar discussing details for the big day.

And while everyone but her are excited about tying the knot, the latest spoilers have revealed the guilt Harriet is carrying out with her.

In upcoming scenes, Harriet will pray to Godfor forgiveness over her affair with Malone.

And invited Malone to the church with the plan of calling time on their secret rendezvous.

Despite her protests, Malone leans in for a kiss again but they’re interrupted by Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb).

Unable to lie about what Moira just witnessed, Harriet is forced to confess and reveals she and Malone have been sleeping together for months.

But in a twist, Harriet then explains how Moira’s estranged husband Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has been involved in Malone’s dodgy dealings at the garage alongside Will and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle).

So why is Harriet unable to break ties with Malone?

During a discussion with, the actress who plays God’s employee was asked whether Will was not bad enough for her.

The thing is that Will is still a bad boy in so many ways,” Katherine revealed. “He’s not quite the hard man he was when he arrived.

“But the thing about Will is the constant lies that has broken down the trust in the relationship.

“He doesn’t seem to be able to be honest with her,” she added.

“Anyway, who doesn’t love a bad boy? Let’s face it, there’s not a great deal of choice in that village!

“She just thinks maybe that she can save them and put them on the right road. She’s doing a sort of public duty, I feel,” Katherine explained.

If Will isn’t good enough, then why does she say yes to his proposal? Katherine replied: “It’s getting very stressful.

  • Emmerdale spoilers: Vinny Dingle banishes Paul from village?

“The thing is that she has never had a family unit and she loves Dawn and Lucas, she wants that.

“I think she is fooling herself, if she can just make this work and pretend this thing with Malone never happened, then she can bury that away and try and recreate the family [she’s] always wanted.

“She doesn’t want to hurt anybody, she doesn’t want to risk Dawn losing Lucas.

“There is so much at stake that she is trying to convince herself that it’s the right thing to do.” Katherine remarked.

But is this achievable? “I think the very fact she has had relations with another man sort of makes everything else a little flimsy,” the actress added.

Emmerdale fans spot glaring Jamie Tate blunder upon lockdown return: ‘What a look!’

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Andrea Tate (played by Anna Nightingale) was seen in a hotel last night on Emmerdale with Millie Tate (Willow Bell) as Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) panicked as to their whereabouts. However, after being told by a police officer Andrea didn’t want to be found, Jamie met up with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) once again. ITV soap fans were completely baffled by Jamie’s appearance though and took to Twitter to discuss what they really thought.

Before the coronavirus lockdown was announced and filming was halted for the Emmerdale cast, Andrea took the ultimate revenge on her cheating husband Jamie.

During Bob Hope’s (Tony Audenshaw) quiz night, it was time for the picture round, but something wasn’t right.

With the entire village packed into the Woolpack, Andrea exposed Belle and Jamie’s sordid text messages after months of keeping their affair secret.

Andrea quickly fled from the Dales with little Millie, but since filming had to be put on hold, fans have been desperate to know what was happening.

  • Emmerdale spoilers Cain left heartbroken as Moira moves on

Last night, Andrea was seen in a hotel with Millie, and as it turns out she didn’t take any credit cards with her in case she could be tracked from her money movements.

A police officer found her though after Jamie raised the alarm, and it quickly became clear it wasn’t a job for the officers.

Jamie shouted at the police officer who then told him this was as far as they would be taking the case and the father said he would find her himself.

The officer suggested it would be the worst thing he could do, but how far would Jamie go to get his daughter back?

Whilst Jamie was talking to the police officer though, fans were baffled by the young man’s appearance.

Last night’s episode was a mix of old and new clips with Andrea’s being filmed before lockdown and Jamie’s afterwards, but Jamie seems to have been working hard on that lockdown tan.

The eagle-eyed Emmerdale viewers noticed the soap star might also look a little trimmer.

Fans took to Twitter immediately to discuss what they really thought about the new look.

And a fifth said: “Jamie’s got a nice lockdown tan! #Emmerdale”

The end of last night’s episode left fans on a huge cliffhanger after Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) secretly drove to the hotel Andrea was staying in to pay her bill.

Despite her suspicions, she hadn’t been followed, the episode ended with Kim Tate (Claire King) spotting exactly what was going on.

Now, as viewers know, Kim isn’t the person you want on your case, and Andrea and Kim already don’t get along.

Will Kim use this as a bargaining tool to get her son full custody of Millie once and for all?

Emmerdale spoilers: Moira Dingle left for ‘dead’ in Malone’s shocking revenge plot

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

DI Malone (played by Mark Womack) rocked up in the Dales earlier this year looking for his gun, but when he found out Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) had accidentally shot Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) with it, suddenly the copper decided it might be nice to spend some time in the picturesque village. However, in upcoming scenes, as he continues his affair with Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) with Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) still oblivious, it will be Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) who will be targeted by the crook on Emmerdale. Will she die in the vicious revenge plot?

Emmerdale fans have been watching on tenterhooks recently wondering when Harriet and DI Malone’s affair will be exposed.

As viewers know, DI Malone has been harassing Will, Cain and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) ever since he rocked up and was even the head of the criminal gang Will used to be a part of.

However, after Will was viciously attacked last month, it soon became clear that DI Malone and Harriet had shared a romance in the past.

Despite acting as if she hated him, the two shared a sordid moment at the back of the church and were nearly caught by Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).

  • Emmerdale spoilers: Kim Tate horrified as Andrea’s mother arrives?

In upcoming scenes though, Harriet will be seen praying for forgiveness after her recent interactions with Malone.

The dodgy copper is never usually too far away and Malone will turn up and despite her protesting against him, the two will look like they are going to kiss again.

However, Harriet has been battling with this alone, but when Moira turns up, the vicar will empty her heart to her neighbour.

Harriet will go one step further though and reveal to Moira that Cain has been involved this whole time.

Will will get wind that Malone is still around and warn Cain who will confront the copper.

Cain will tell him to stay away from Emmerdale for good, but viewers know that this is like waving a red rag to a bull.

Malone will drop into the conversation he has a new interest in the village, and Cain will take this to mean that Malone and Moira are getting cosy, which of course is wrong.

However, later Malone will break into Cain’s house and threaten Moira to keep her mouth shut about the affair.

Emmerdale spoilers: Malone confirms Will’s disappearance in Harriet wedding twist?

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Emmerdale’s vicar Harriet Finch (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) has been sneaking around with DI Mark Malone (Mark Womack) for the last couple of months, despite being engaged to Will Taylor (Dean Andrews). The three all know one another, with their paths crossing several times in the past, and more recently too. During tonight’s instalment of the popular ITV soap, Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) became acquainted with Malone, and it seems Harriet’s wedding will not go ahead, no matter how much she or Will would like it to.

A few months ago, Harriet meet with Malone on the outskirts of the village and warned him against coming near her or her family.

Her threat landed on deaf ears as the corrupt cop upped his control and viewers saw Will hospitalised as a warning to not double-cross him.

Despite the danger Malone brings into Harriet’s life, she cannot stay away, and the pair reignited their romance.

When Will vowed to change once more, and then dropped down on one knee, Harriet was unable to say anything but “yes” to his marriage proposal.

  • Emmerdale spoilers: Beloved couple torn apart as revenge plan exposed?

Tonight, Harriet’s doubts about marrying Will emerged during a conversation with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).

She was also seen actively avoiding Will and Dawn too.

Her step-daughter tried to make plans with Harriet, but was interrupted by Malone.

Talking on the phone outside the cafe, Dawn said to Harriet: “Lucas has binned me off – he’s gone for tea at a mates.

“So I thought we could do some strategic planning – about your wedding of course!

“I have seen some lovely scarlet roses in town and Dad loves all things red, so, not that he gets a choice because it’s all about the bride isn’t it!” She continued.

“Harriet, you could sound a bit more enthusiastic! How often do you get married?

“I’m not having a go – alright, okay, you finish your sermon, I’ll get some food and we can plan later on,” Dawn miserably remarked.

Malone was seen walking up the road behind Dawn before stopping in front of her.

“Can I help you mate?” Dawn said and he replied: “Yes sorry, couldn’t help overhearing in. Harriet, is that the local vicar by any chance?

Before adding: “Friend of yours?”

Dawn revealed: “She’s engaged to my dad.”

“Engaged?” Malone exclaimed. “Had to happen sooner or later I guess. He’s a lucky guy, she’s quite a catch.”

Confused, the mother of one asked: “How do you know her?”

“Me and her, we go way back. I’m Mark,” he stated.

“Mark?” Dawn reiterated and Malone clarified: “Yes, or Detective Inspector Malone if you want to be formal.”

It didn’t take long for Dawn to realise who the man in front of her was and she quickly made her excuses and left.

Official soap spoilers for this week have already revealed how Dawn will tell Harriet about Malone’s appearance in Emmerdale.

And while Harriet will reassure Dawn that Malone is nothing for them to worry about, she can’t be certain.

  • Emmerdale spoilers: April Dingle falls ill after Marlon’s mistake?

After all, Dawn found herself embroiled in Malone’s dodgy drug deal, when she had to collect the gear off boyfriend Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) after her father gave them a tip off they were going to be flagged down by the police.

With Malone extremely surprised by Dawn telling him Harriet was engaged, it is clear he had no idea about the woman he is sleeping with still being involved with Will.

Could he rumble up a plan to ruin Harriet’s big day?

Emmerdale spoilers: Kim Tate suffers ‘devastating loss’ in Jamie Tate divorce twist

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

Kim (played by Claire King) has always had a scheme or two up her sleeve during her reign as one of Emmerdale’s most infamous villains. Although she has never had the steadiest of family set-ups, the one thing which has kept the fire lit within her has been getting her hands on the village mansion of Home Farm. Since her return to the ITV soap last year, she has been lapping up a life of luxury at the prominent establishment with her son Jamie (Alexander Lincoln), his wife Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale) and granddaughter Millie Tate (Willow Bell). However, the period of bliss has come crumbling down around her as it was revealed the ruthless businesswoman’s child had been having an affair. With his marriage beyond the means of repair, will the vet’s mother be forced to hand over the one thing she holds dear to her heart?

Tonight’s episode of the village-based drama will see things pick up from three weeks ago where Jamie’s dalliance with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was made public knowledge thanks to his vengeful wife.

As he tried to get his head around his world imploding around him, the father-of-one discovered both his other half and their daughter had gone missing.

The upcoming instalments will see him desperately trying to find them, unaware his spouse if watching from the shadows with her friend and ally, Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi).

Kim will soon be on their trail as she follows them to a local hotel where her daughter-in-law has been hiding out for a few days.

As a result of the drama, Andrea will hand herself over to the police but with it yet to be determined what the future hold for her marriage, will she decide to go after him and his mother for all their worth?

  • Emmerdale spoilers: Jacob Metcalfe rocked as Leanne drops bombshell

It’s fair to say Andrea and Kim have never seen eye-to-eye, with Jamie becoming estranged from his mother for several years so she could stay out of his marriage.

However, when the couple and their daughter arrived in the village last year, the vet’s spouse tried to keep the peace by being civil to her mother-in-law.

Following the discovery at Christmas she had a one-night stand with Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), the two women went to war once more.

Now, with the revelation her other half has been cheating on her and his mother likely to fight his corner, will she take Home Farm from under their feet?

She wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt

Anna Nightingale

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, actress Anna Nightingale hinted at another clash with her character’s mother-in-law.

As presenter Lorraine Kelly, 60, said Andrea has the “mother-in-law from hell,” the soap star replied: “I think she wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt.

“Obviously she’d heard stories with her relationship with Jamie, but there is nothing like reality checking her in the flesh.”

If the mother-of-one decides to divorce Jamie for having an affair, she could try and wriggle into the settlement that she becomes the owner of Home Farm.

Andrea could state she needs a stable home to raise the couple’s daughter Millie and where better than in a mansion.

Not wanting to lose her son again after just rebuilding her relationship with him, Kim could reluctantly hand over the deeds.

For the first time in her life, will the villain let her heart make her decisions rather than her money-making head?

The village vixen was the first owner of the prominent establishment, having arrived on the soap as the proprietor alongside husband Frank Tate (Norman Bowler).

Kim then lost her home when her other half discovered she had been having an affair with Neil Kincaid (Brian Deacon).

The villain then got her hands back on the establishment when her husband tragically died of a heart attack, which she oversaw and did nothing to help.

In accordance with his will, she inherited half the share of Home Farm before making an exit from the soap sometime later.

Returning over 20 years later, she managed to take hold of the mansion once more after a stint in prison and is currently the owner of the property, but could history be set to repeat itself?

Emmerdale has managed to stay on-air through the coronavirus pandemic despite having to halt production at the end of March when new social-distancing guidelines were introduced by the UK Government. It was revealed the soap would give fans six specials after the rules were eased slightly last month, meaning shows could begin to return to filming. However, despite the episodes going down well, on the whole, with viewers, a minority tuning in were left complaining to Ofcom after Jimmy King’s (played by Nick Miles) made a joking reference to coronavirus in the programme.

Jimmy and wife Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) were amongst the six pairs chosen to be depicted in lockdown after the soap decided to try something different.

The episode – which aired last Wednesday – saw the much-loved couple have their fair share of rows as the reality of the situation kicked in.

However, at one point, after the pair enjoyed a boozy night in together, the couple woke up hungover but Jimmy’s remark which followed wasn’t as well-received as hoped.

Jimmy said to his wife: “At least we don’t have to do the school run. Thank you coronavirus.”

Nicola gave an agreeing smile in response but some of those watching at home were left unhappy with Jimmy’s words during the episode.

The comment has sparked a small number of viewers getting in contact with TV regulator – Ofcom – after allegedly believing it to be insensitive of the current crisis.

Ofcom told The Sun Online they had received 12 complaints related to Jimmy’s “thank you Coronavirus” line.

The publication reported Ofcom hasn’t decided whether they will investigate the complaints further.

Nearly 43,000 people in the UK have died as a result of the virus so far, with the number still continuing to rise after the death toll peaking in early April.

It wasn’t the only thing viewers were less pleased with after noticing a rather obvious blunder within the episode.

Each of the instalments has been set of the timeframe of around a month, meaning its implied things have changed within this time.

The episodes have been divided up into segments which are supposed to represent different days but they were filmed in a much shorter time-frame than suggested on-screen.

Some eagle-eyed fans noticed Nicola and Jimmy still had the same clothes on nearly two weeks into their time in lockdown.

One said on Twitter: “#Emmerdale We’re up to day 13 Nicola and Jimmy in same clothes ugh.”

Another commented: “Day 13 and Jimmy and Nicola still haven’t changed their clothes on Emmerdale  #Emmerdale @emmerdale.”

A third shared: “it might seem more realistic if the characters change their clothes. Nicola and Jimmy had the same clothes on for the first 12 days and three days later on.”

Despite the above, many fans have praised the episode, calling it the “best one” and pleading for the soap to give the characters more screen-time.

“Nick Miles and Nicola Wheeler have been underused for way too long. They deserve this episode #Emmerdale #Jimmy #Nicola,” wrote one.

Another noted: “Jimmy and Nicola are perfect for each other and I hope #Emmerdale never break them up.”

A third said: “Just caught up with the Nicola and Jimmy episode of #Emmerdale it was the best one yet!”

“Nicola and Jimmy are so underrated! We need to see more of them soon #Emmerdale,” wrote another fan.

It was also hinted the couple may end up splitting up after Nicola revealed she was unhappy with her life in the Dales.

She told her spouse she was “sick of [her] life” and her mental state was clearly suffering – but will the pair manage to make it out the other side together?

Express Online has contacted Ofcom for comment.

Emmerdale airs Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV.
