Have Mariah and J-Lo fallen out?

Both Mariah and J-Lo are well known for their singing careers, however it seems that the pair have not seen eye to eye for many years.

The singer’s friendship was questioned in the early 2000’s when Mariah was asked of her pop rival Jennifer Lopez.

At the time Mariah replied “I don’t know her” during an interview with a German news outlet.

The phrase has since become iconic in the history of pop culture with Mariah having repeated it many times over the years.

When asked on Watch What Happens live in 2016, Mariah said: “That was so long ago, I can’t believe people still make such a big deal out of it.”

She later explained to host Andy Cohen: “If I had never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you I would be like I don’t him but he seems cool.”

When asked again, Mariah said: “I’m not going to put on a thing like ‘oh we’re all Hollywood and let’s just all pretend we’re best friends’ because we’re in that land.”

Talking of her the interview where she said the now-famous quote, Mariah explained: “It’s just the question was about Beyonce, and I was saying I think she’s super talented she’s a friend of mine, she’s always been sweet to me she’s always been very cool.

“Then they asked me another question, and I was was just like I don’t really know her.

“It wasn’t like I don’t know who she is, of course, I do, that’s not the question.”

The singer’s feud is said to date back 2001 when a sample used in Mariah’s then-unreleased song Loverboy was later used in Jennifer Lopez’s single I’m Real.

Amid the release of Mariah’s memoir, the We Belong Together hitmaker is said to have opened up on the situation.

In an excerpt obtained by TooFab, Mariah wrote: “That did not go unnoticed by Sony executives (and spies).

“After hearing my new song, using the same sample I used, Sony rushed to make a single for another female entertainer on their label (whom I don’t know).”

While talking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in 2018, Jennifer spoke candidly of their relationship.

Jennifer explained: “I don’t have a feud against her at all. We have never met, like we don’t know each other.

“I think it’s from a, like, word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I’m not really aware of.

“But I would love to meet her, and I would love to be friends with her.

“I think she’s incredibly talented and I’ve always been a fan of hers.

“It saddens me to hear anything that’s negative because I’m a fan of hers.”
